Description

Overview

Conformal coating is a protective chemical layer or polymer film that is applied to electronic circuits to act as protection against moisture, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes that, if uncoated (non-protected), could result in damage or failure of the electronics to function. The conformal coating ‘conforms’ to the circuit board topology and is electrically insulating maintaining long-term surface insulation resistance (SIR) levels and thus ensures the operational integrity of the assembly. Conformal coating also provides a barrier to air-borne contaminants from the operating environment, such as salt-spray, thus preventing corrosion.

Tri-M provides three options for conformal coating:

HumiSeal® 1B73 is a single component, fast drying, acrylic conformal coating intended for use on printed circuit assemblies. HumiSeal® 1B73 demonstrates excellent flexibility and electrical properties, fluoresces under UV light for ease of inspection and is easily repaired. HumiSeal® 1B73 coating is MIL-I-46058C qualified, IPC-CC-830 and RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC compliant, and recognized under UL File Number E105698.

Urethane conformal coating offers superior toughness and abrasion resistance and excellent protection from humidity and organic solvents.  The base resin conforms to MIL-I-46058C

Silicone conformal coating is ideal for high temperature environments.  Silicon conformal coating (422B) is a flexible funish product that provides a protective coating for printed circuit boards against moisture, corrosion and thermal shock.  It protects and insulates electrical and electronic components and assemblies, including generators, motors, transformers, relays and solenoid coils

  • Stable over wide temperature range (in general, -40C to 200C)[-40F to 392F]
  • Flexible, provides dampening and impact protection
  • Good moisture resistance
  • High dielectric strength
  • Low surface energy for better wetting

Urethane

  • Good dielectric properties
  • Good moisture resistance
  • Solvent resistance
  • Less reversion potential
  • Abrasion resistance
