As a result of the end-of-life of the microprocessor and northbridge components on the Hercules EBX, and as part of the conversion of Diamond Systems products to meet the European Union directive on the Reduction of Hazardous Substances known as RoHS, Diamond Systems is announcing end of life of the Hercules EBX single board computer family. Hercules EBX is being replaced with the upgraded Hercules II EBX using the new Via Mark CoreFusion™ processor. Customers should migrate immediately to the new Hercules II EBX SBC.

In order to assist customers with the migration process, Diamond Systems will accept orders for Hercules EBX boards through January 31, 2007 for shipment through July 31, 2007. Effective immediately, new orders for Hercules EBX boards will be non cancelable, and product shipped against new purchase orders after December 31, 2006 will not be returnable.

Compatibility
The Hercules II EBX family is 100% upward compatible from the original Hercules EBX products. However, there are a number of important changes to Hercules II EBX which make it a superior single board computer for applications which require data acquisition. These changes are as follows:

No software or cabling changes are required. The connectors are of the same types and have identical location and pinout. The data acquisition section has not changed.

Availability
The new Hercules II EBX is available now from Diamond Systems in extremely limited quantity. You may request a board for evaluation and qualification in your current Hercules EBX application. Due to the limited availability, Diamond Systems may request that you return the board for use by other customers after two weeks of testing. Production quantities of the board will be available at the end of November.
